Udo Kir, Ričard Stenli i Sajmon Bosvel dolaze na GROSSMANN 2015!


            Ove godine na Grosmanu – SPEKTAKL! Sudar horor titana nezabeležen u dosadašnjoj istoriji festivala – ali evo, već u 11. godini, na pragu druge decenije, postavili su sebi lestvicu vrlo visoko!
            Da se razumemo, bilo je odličnih, prvorazrednih gostiju na Grosmanu i do sada (Kristofer Li, Rodžer Korman, Ruđero Deodato, Đorđe Kadijević, Brajan Juzna, Jorg Butgerejt...) ali nikada na gomili, odjednom.
            A ovog leta, tačnije od 14-18. jula, u malom (geografski) ali ogromnom (filmofilski) Ljutomeru, gostovaće kultni glumac Udo Kir (Meso za Frankenštajna, Krv za Drakulu...), 
najbolji horor reditelj koji je debitovao u poslednjih četvrt veka, Ričard Stenli (Hardware, Dust Devil
i genijalni kompozitor Sajmon Bosvel, autor legendarnih skorova za sve Stenlijeve filmove, plus za Santa Sangre, Lord of Illusions, Stage Fright, Perdita Durango… 
Njima će se, reprizno, pridružiti kultni andergraund nekro-blesan, Jorg Butgerejt (sa novim filmom, ili bar 1/3 filma) koji je ranije već overio Grosmana!

            Biće tu i stalni gosti iz Srbije: Nenad Bekvalac (koji će voditi razgovor sa Udom i još nekim gostima-rediteljima) i njegova goth-žena (koja će dodatno mračiti gotske noći u pitomom Ljutomeru), Sendi Kumalakanta, efx majstor koji je prolivao krv i sekao delove tela u prvom slovenačkom horor filmu (žanrovski posmatrano) pod zavodljivim nazivom IDILA... Ova grozljivka bi trebalo da učini da sasvim zaboravimo da je ikada postojalo nešto što se zvalo VINOPIRI...

Najzad, biće tu i dr Dejan Ognjanović koji je napokon izlobirao i izdejstvovao gostovanje Stenlija i Bosvela, s kojima će voditi javne razgovore na ljutomerskom trgu (tzv. "master class", mada bi to preciznije trebalo da se zove "doctor class"!) a pored toga na Grosmanu će promovisati i svoju novu studiju o horor književnosti, POETIKA HORORA. S njim će o njoj razgovarati vodeći slovenački ekspert za horor žanr, Mr Marko Mehtsun.
            Biće prisutni i drugi strani gosti – uglavnom reditelji – čiji filmovi igraju u takmičarskom delu programa, uključujući tu i Kristijana (Živi i mrtvi) Milića, čija akciona fantazija, film 55 (dakle, 55 a ne 505 S CRTOM!), o hrvatskim junacima opkoljenim i pobijenim od strane četničkih monstruma otvara festival.

            Filmski program je i ove godine bogat i raznovrstan, i što me posebno raduje – blaženo rasterećen izvikanih američkih "horora": mnogo veći naglasak je na Evropi i Južnoj Americi, uz nešto Rusa i ostale ex-SSSR bratije. Uda Kira svi znate i njemu ne treba predstavljanje. Ali, za slučaj da vam je nekako promaklo moje stalno insistiranje na Stenlijevoj genijalnosti, i na izuzetnosti skorova Sajmona Bosvela, evo kratkih najava za ovu dvojicu majstora strave koje sam lično sročio za Grossmann:


Richard Stanley is Coming to Grossmann 2015

We are very happy to announce the arrival of director and screenwriter Richard Stanley to this year’s Grossmann Festival where he will head the Vicious Cat jury.
Richard Stanley is one of the last true mavericks of horror cinema. He tested his craft in several shorts and in music videos for Fields of the Nephilim and Public Image Limited before he brought a fresh and uniquely apocalyptic vision in his feature debut, Hardware (1990). Hardware's success led to Dust Devil (1992), a true masterpiece of the supernatural disguised behind horror's most despised subgenre, slasher. But slasher is here a mask, just like SF was in Hardware. Behind it lies a metaphysical questioning of the roots of material and spiritual existence, dressed in imagery borrowed and shapeshifted from Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns and Tarkovsky's surreal ruminations. 
Stanley's restless spirit took him all over the world in search for the meaning behind the veils of appearances. In vivo, and through his documentaries, he has investigated various esoteric traditions: Afghanistan mountain folklore in Voice of the Moon (1990), Nazi occultism and its links with the legends of the Holy Grail and the Cathars in The Secret Glory (2001), Haitian voodoo practices in The White Darkness (2002) and, ultimately, a further investigation of the Cathar beliefs in The Otherworld (2013).
Two segments in recent horror anthologies, "The Mother of Toads" in The Theatre Bizarre (2011) and "Coltan" in the still unreleased The Profane Exhibit (2015?), signal his return to filmmaking which should come in fool bloom with his announced feature length adaptation of H. P. Lovecraft's The Colour Out of Space.
We will pay tribute to this unique filmmaker with a special retrospective of his films and a screening of David Gregory's documentary Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley's Island of Dr. Moreau. There will also be a special master class, moderated by Serbian writer and critic Dejan Ognjanović who has also contributed an in-depth article on Stanley for our website and program booklet which was partly used in this news.


Simon Boswell at Grossmann 2015

With much joy we announce the arrival of film score composer Simon Boswell to this year's Grossmann where we will together celebrate 30 years of his work in cinema.
Simon Boswell (born in London in 1956) has left an indelible mark on horror genre through numerous memorable and now-classical scores from the 1980s and 1990s in which he combined electronic elements with orchestral instruments.
He was an accomplished musician by the time he started his film career in 1985, when several of his themes were used in Dario Argento's Phenomena. This led to his first composer credit, for Argento-produced Demons 2 (1986) directed by Lamberto Bava; he did several more scores for Bava Jr. and other Italian horror directors, most notably for Michele Soavi's debut Stage Fright (1987). 
His wonderful scores added grandeur and beauty to visionary works of several auteurs known for their unique style, like Alejandro Jodorowsky (Santa Sangre, 1989), Clive Barker (Lord of Illusions, 1995), Álex de la Iglesia (Perdita Durango, 1997) and Juraj Jakubisko (Bathory: Countess of Blood, 2008). 
A special part of Boswell's career is linked with the director Richard Stanley: his haunting, melodic tunes have become inextricable from this director's films Hardware (1990) and Dust Devil (1992), but they also add the mystical mood to all of Stanley's documentaries, too.
This composer is not devoted only to horror and fantastique: he contributed remarkable scores for Danny Boyle's Shallow Grave, and also for Hackers, Photographing Fairies, A Midsummer Night's Dream and dozens of others.
In 2015 Simon Boswell celebrates 30 years of his work in cinema: a perfect timing to reunite him with his long-time inspirator, Richard Stanley, and greet them both on Grossmann! Besides a special retrospective, there will also be a master class, moderated by Serbian writer and critic Dejan Ognjanović who has also contributed an in-depth article on Boswell for our website and program booklet which was used in this article.
